HENRYs

I'm trying really, really hard to keep a lid on Mr. Bitterman, but there's only so much I can do.

Are you part of the Nobama camp? Or maybe the McPain camp? The closer we get to the election, the more politicized everything becomes.

I found this article online. Henry or no Henry, the article will engender some sort of reaction.

This is my favorite:
"...his family has just $200,000 in savings outside of the college fund. "With how well we're doing, I thought I'd have $1 million by now," says Selden."

Gee. That sucks.
Though I do agree that the AMT is out of date. Much like SS, it needs to be revised.

I'm with the all knowing one...the out of touch is amazing... "They're all about the kids: saving for private colleges, paying for day care - practically a must, because Mom and Dad are both working - and providing dance, tennis, or gymnastics lessons. These might be seen as luxury items by middle-class workers, but they're absolute necessities to the HENRYs.". Sorry but where I'm from tennis lessons and private schools are luxuries...necessities are food and water then clothing and shelter. Also no one in the middle class is trying to save for retirement, kids college, or paying for day care...

What? You DON'T have $200,000 in savings? You bunch of slackers! ;-)

What pisses me off is that my retirement fund (also adoption asset proof) is LESS now than it was at the end of last year. All the $ I put in it this year - gone. Any chance of proving assets, gone. Grrrr.

I wasn't going to blog anything political this season Mr Kluges, and here you go and spin me up. :)

I tried to be impartial in the initial posting, which I suppose was foolish. I can only think of one or maybe two Henry's that I know, and they don't read this blog (that I know of). The rest of us are "middle class" America, whatever that means.

What galls me about this article is the sense of entitlement these people feel. I make a pretty good salary, enough to allow us to be a one income family. The majority of middle class America does not have that luxury. I am thankful for the income I have. I am thankful that I live in a country that encourages upward mobility and self improvement.

Greed will be the downfall of our country. Feeling entitled to tennis lessons and a $500,000 education at Duke, while a majority of your fellow countrymen wonder if their children, for the first time in our country's history, will live a life that is worse than their own, is beyond outrageous. It borders on suicidal insanity.
